In the context of Industry 4.0 manufacturing, joining processes are no longer simply about generating pressing force, but also require absolute control over stroke, speed, and product quality data. Recently, HIKI successfully completed the delivery of the Kistler (Germany) Servo NCFE 40kN system to a customer for a precision assembly project.
According to the purchase order, the delivered system is a complete all-in-one solution including:
Unlike traditional hydraulic or pneumatic systems, which are difficult to control precisely and consume significant energy, or standard electric cylinders, Kistler’s NCFE solution delivers clear technological advantages:
1. Joining module (Electromechanical NC joining module NCFE):
It uses a Servo motor with an integrated absolute position encoder (0.003 mm resolution) and an integrated Strain Gauge force sensor (0.5%). The system enables precise stroke control and real-time force monitoring with high linearity (≤1%), allowing direct measurement of the actual force applied to the product and ensuring reliable, stable monitoring data throughout operation.
2. Real-time process monitoring (Process Monitoring):
The maXYmos NC controller can store up to 128 joining programs for different products, with built-in PROFINET/EtherNet-IP communication and real-time SERCOS III interface. In particular, the system provides algorithms to evaluate product quality after the pressing process, ensuring consistent product quality. Any deviation, such as missing parts, misalignment, or non-conforming material, is detected immediately, allowing NOK products to be rejected directly at the production stage. It also supports Q-DAS/PDF reporting to meet strict Industry 4.0 traceability requirements.
3. Cost, energy efficiency, and environment:
Electromechanical Servo technology saves up to 90% energy compared to pneumatic systems and 77% compared to hydraulic systems, since power is only consumed during movement. At the same time, it completely eliminates the risk of oil leakage and ensures a clean production environment (Clean room compatible).
With the Kistler system, customers can effectively solve the “hidden iceberg” problem that accounts for up to 90% of lifecycle cost. By reducing maintenance costs for complex piping systems, minimizing cleanup requirements, and optimizing energy usage, the system’s stability ensures the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO).
With a force range of 40kN, this system is particularly suitable for applications such as:
