Enhancing product quality based on international acoustic measurement standards

06/01/2026

In the context of specialized industrial manufacturing sectors in Vietnam placing increasing emphasis on quality, stability, and compliance with international standards, investment in in-house measurement and inspection systems has become a strategic step. Particularly for applications where acoustic and vibrational characteristics play a critical role in product quality assessment, the requirement is not merely to measure, but to measure accurately, repeatably, and on a solid scientific basis. This trend toward mastering in-house measurement technology reflects the determination of domestic manufacturers to strengthen quality control capabilities and improve operational autonomy.

The acoustic measurement solution implemented by HIKI is based on a Class 1 sound level measurement system compliant with IEC 61672, meeting stringent requirements for accuracy and reliability in acoustic metrology. The system enables comprehensive real-time sound pressure level measurements while supporting frequency spectrum analysis with octave and one-third-octave bands, as well as post-processing with finer spectral resolution when required. Frequency weighting algorithms such as A, C, and Z, combined with Fast, Slow, and Impulse time weightings, ensure that measurement results are suitable for different evaluation objectives and can be readily benchmarked against international practices and standards.

The data acquisition platform is designed for dynamic acoustic measurements involving high amplitudes and wide frequency ranges, featuring a high dynamic range, fast sampling rates, and precise synchronization. This architecture allows all relevant characteristics of acoustic signals to be captured without loss of information, even under demanding measurement conditions. The selected professional-grade acoustic sensors feature low inherent noise and clearly defined calibration characteristics, ensuring traceability and confidence in the acquired measurement data. Calibration procedures are performed directly within the software environment, supporting long-term measurement reliability and meeting strict quality assurance requirements.

Integrating the acoustic measurement system into internal operations goes beyond inspection alone; it establishes a foundation for proactive and consistent quality management. Measurement data becomes the basis for defining evaluation criteria, detecting deviations early in the production process, and standardizing inspection methodologies in accordance with international standards, thereby optimizing long-term operational costs.

Within this project, HIKI acts as a technology partner, providing consulting, technology transfer, and technical support to help customers gradually gain full control over measurement methods, evaluation procedures, and system operation. Through the development of appropriate measurement strategies, training, and deployment support, HIKI contributes to strengthening in-house measurement capabilities, aiming for stable, accurate, and sustainable product quality control.
